Known for being one of the largest sporting goods retailers in Brazil, Decathlon informed the opening of a new Distribution Centre in Barueri, Greater São Paulo. The project was inaugurated on March 12 with more than 50 thousand square metres. Decathlon hopes to bring more logistical efficiency, technological evolution, and space for its employees with the opening of the distribution centre.
As we have seen in recent months, the logistics area has grown significantly in Brazil due to the pandemic since several people have started to shop online. It has increased the demand for logistical spaces for product storage and the last mile. Thus, focusing on technology, the new Distribution Centre will have automation in moving boxes from collection to dispatch, with conveyor belts in different sectors, in addition to the docks with an intelligent system for manoeuvring and pulling up trucks. Such differentials will increase agility in collecting and better consolidating loads for faster shipment to stores and distribution centres.
