GCDMX gives go ahead for the conversion of offices to housing

Two years and one month after the covid-19 crisis in the CDMX, finally, the local government is implementing a first legal framework to allow the conversion of offices to mixed-use spaces or the realization of real estate projects for housing.

The agreement contemplates buildings in disuse or abandonment or buildings that were in use before the Declaration of Sanitary Emergency by Covid-19, in 2020.

According to the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the rule will apply to buildings with high, medium, low, low, very low, restricted density, as well as the number of dwellings that can be modified, which will be calculated by dividing the maximum construction surface allowed in the zoning by the surface of the dwelling defined by the project.
