The progress of vaccination and the decrease in the number of deaths from Covid-19 have contributed to the return to face-to-face activities. With more stores open without restrictions, shopping in-person grew 47.2% in the second quarter of 2021, compared to the same period last year, according to the third report on the Analysis of Consumer Behavior by Itaú Unibanco.
The increase in physical retail sales in the second quarter surpassed the increase in online retail sales in the period, which was 43.2%. As a result, the share of online sales was practically stable at 21.1%. In the second quarter of 2020, the online share was 21.5%.
