SP Chamber plans to vote on a project that changes rules for building in the city centre

New rules prposed by the City Hall for housing construction in the central region of São Paulo are scheduled for a second vote in the Chamber on the 24th

The project divides opinions from different sectors, from developers to social movements, and is under discussion with changes. One of the points discussed is maintaining the exemption from the fee charged to build buildings above the basic height limit (the so-called “onerous grant”) in districts such as Sé and República. Sent to councillors in November 2020, the proposal refers to the Urban Intervention Project (PIU) Setor Central, with which the city government intends to bring another 200,000 residents to the centre. The second vote was scheduled for today, but it has been postponed.
