Via Varejo plans a one-hour delivery program

When Via Varejo, owner of Casas Bahia and Pontofrio, faced Covid’s first commercial restriction in the second quarter of 2020, it had only 26% of sales concentrated online. Almost a year later, and with the pandemic worsening, retailers must go through new periods of isolation with more ease, in the opinion of Roberto Fulcherberguer, president of the company.

“I will not say that we will not feel any impact, it is impossible, but we are much better prepared than we were in the second quarter of 2020. For us, it is a smoother path; our 20,000 reps will continue to sell,” he says.

The company plans to implement a one-hour delivery program for the whole of Brazil in the third quarter to gain more market share compared to competitors such as Amazon, Magazine Luiza, and Mercado Livre.
