Walmart wants to strengthen its presence in Mexico and Central America

Walmart de Centroamérica y México (Walmex) seeks to concentrate its efforts and prioritize its resources in core businesses and geographies such as Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico, after announcing that it is considering selling or seeking a strategic alliance in its markets in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, according to market analysts.

"Pending details of the possible transaction, we believe it is positive that the company seeks to concentrate its efforts on its core operations, given that the businesses in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua would represent less than half of the total operations in Central America," says Mexican bank Banorte in a press release.
